Now, this doesn’t mean “the news” is a bad product & you shouldn’t consume it. just be thoughtful & understand it is highly-processed Sometimes it is constructed nefariously, other times virtuously — but mostly it’s just pragmatically designed to keep you coming back

This week, when “the news” slows to a trickle like clockwork, you learn that “the news” is a product manufactured by corporations to capture your attention by manipulating your emotional state.

When dealing with the public sector and a large chunk of the corporate sector, there is now a near-Soviet expectation that nothing will work properly and you will not be able to speak to anyone who cares, let alone anyone who can or will do anything about it.

The beautiful thing is that you don't JUST loose Johnson - if he goes, Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees Mogg go too. Total BOGOF.

In the absence of an overwhelming benefit of vaccinating teens/young adults against Covid, any rare severe side-effect will undermine trust in vaccines, and not just Covid vaccines. This could - and likely already has - become a serious issue in terms of vaccine hesitancy. 6/

But Tory MPs adamantly aren’t. I also understand only 3 ministers spoke in favour of Plan B now during Cabinet yesterday. One senior Tory MP just now: “I’m not having all our lives fucked up by these fucking halfwits again just to dig themselves out of their own fucking mess”.

The lifespan of every 85 year old encompasses the most concentrated & radical tech transformation in recorded history. Today in 1936 Alan Turing blew up mathematics with the idea of a Turing Machine. Now a robot computer on Mars is flying a scout drone 34 million miles away

It's amazing how much good stuff you can get done if you're not preoccupied with being a thought leader.

The £37 billion given to Dido Harding (not the NHS) for Test & Trace is more than the estimated cost to vaccinate the *world* Where on earth did it go? Shouldn’t this be a priority for the government’s anti-corruption tsar? Who is? *checks notes* Dido Harding’s husband. Oh

Yep, vaccine passports are super popular with those who don't go to nightclubs. The way young people have been treated throughout this epidemic makes me ashamed to be older.

The NI increase would raise £36bn over 3 years. £37bn was allocated for the NHS Test & Trace system which the Public Accounts Select Committee report in March said had made no measurable difference in slowing the progress of the pandemic. Angry anyone?
