Writing fictional stories inspired by real feelings is also a more comfortable way to explore them. When the world shuts down and there's no choice but to sit with ones own thoughts, exploring them creatively can be a more distant & safer path towards understanding them
4) Other times, these escapes are a coping mechanism--a maladaptive daydream, an avoidance of harsh truth. Dreaming up Folklore and Evermore not only shielded Taylor from the lonely uncertainty of the pandemic, but also from herself. It was an escape from her own concealed pain.
my project for the rest of this year is trying to get back that childlike sense of delusion that actually makes you to go for things that you want in life
It's been four years, and no one has come close to capturing the utter devastation of losing the one person that made you believe you were capable of love the way that Taylor did with with this single lyric
