The truth on social media is whatever you want it to be. The algorithms help. An attention-driven information system doesn’t yield the truth; it yields retention, fixation, and, ultimately, addiction. No one cares about truth. The dopamine hit isn’t nearly as good.
Line from this article captures it perfectly: “…simple pandering works better than complex truth-telling.” When the body politic does not have the capacity (or capability) to listen, think, question, and reason, political ideas erode to the lowest common denominator.
