Big Sea Books 🍉
@readingbigseaA Bay Area-based publishing house dedicated to releasing the books that people want to read. The website is ✨LIVE✨
For Black women and Black women only who may have or may be considering suicide because the rainbow isn't enuf: over the next four years I encourage you to find God in yourself and love her fiercely, because that's what I'm gonna do
I would also like to point out that I'm a Black woman FROM THE BAY AREA, so I was able to go to Black neighbors, Black activists, Black elders and ASK THEM about their experiences working with her. We could've had an educated Black woman from Oakland but y'all picked the 🟠
Big Sea Books is owned by a Black woman and I have struggled to return to my publishing work this week because of the amount of apathy that has taken hold. Even if I had my issues with her, I believed that a Black woman could be president but y'all hate Black women that much.
The fact that Black women saying “y’all are on your own” has all these people snot nose crying, making TikTok’s, apologizing, making friendship bracelets, & trying to set up marches should tell you everything you need to know.
"how can people read books like harry potter, hunger games, divergent & still vote like this" it's almost like exclusively reading fiction about white protagonists leading revolutions doesn't equate to sympathizing for marginalized groups that already had the same oppressions IRL
I’m angry, but oddly it’s a cold anger this time. I want to make something good and beautiful in this cruel and stupid world. I want to plant a tree or bake a loaf of bread — not out of cheerful optimism or even hope, but as a defiant middle finger to all this darkness.
this election was nothing but a reminder that at the end of the day there is absolutely nothing that america hates more than black women & that is so so hurtful.
Like okay. Ya'll just hate Black women full stop. It was already known but it is now crystal fucking clear
Now that you've seen both Obama and Harris campaign to perfection, you understand why we say Black people have to be twice as good just to get half the credit
While it has not been called, seeing that THIS many people still voted for him in droves is just about the most heartbreaking thing ever right now. Look at the exit polls. Look at who is voting in favor of this. Think about what that means for people who look like me (aka 🟤)
Y'all worried about the price of eggs, I'm worried if I'll be legally defined as a human being tomorrow. We are not the same.
from now till the election this is a speculation-free zone. no doom-mongering, no panic, no repeating past instances of wild elation followed by crushing disappointment. we’re living in the moment. we’re maintaining a measured calm. we’re embracing the wild unknown
“We can disagree and still love each other. Unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” -James Baldwin
We will be OK, no matter what, so long as we remember how powerful we are when we work together for a common good through cooperation, not toxic competition. #bydhttmwfi
