Dear everyone. From what I can tell, these researchers claim to have cracked 20-bit RSA (which I can crack on a MacBook) using a D-Wave computer (which is not a general-purpose quantum computer) and an algorithm that may or may not even work at scale.

1) TEEs are not secure enough for the most exciting use cases Right now, they're better than nothing, but if we want to build a house with TEEs in the foundation, there's a long way to go That's the topic of a blog series @sbellem @socrates1024 and I are starting (with friends)
This is really bad, all @Infineon secure elements vulnerable, extraction of private key (as bad as it gets basically). These are certified secure hardware, this should not be possible or at least not this easy 😅

Canada gets it
Having completed its public consultation on a potential digital dollar, the @bankofcanada is committing itself to researching a CBDC that won't require ID, similar to banknotes and prepaid cards. 👀👀 bankofcanada.ca/digitaldollar/…
The Bank of Canada recently asked Canadians to rank the top features of a potential CBDC. The most popular feature by a long shot was "ability to make private transactions."
Agree John. No one in China cares if money is central bank-backed or WeChat-backed. Agree functionality will determine usage. For emerging markets where inclusion is key the need for offline transfers using feature phones or CBDC cards will make or break adoption.
