We reported over 100,000 tests yesterday. Highest number to date. Our infection rate remains under 1%. The takeaway? More tests does not equal more cases. And masks work.

As part of the #WhiteCoatsForBlackLives movement, our staff members system-wide joined with other health care professionals across the nation this past week to pay tribute to #GeorgeFloyd.

Proud of the @NYCHealthSystem clinicians who speak w/ thousands of New Yorkers everyday. We believe all New Yorkers should have the right to speak w/ a clinician during this crisis. They are doing their best to allay fears, provide sound guidance, & triage appropriately. #COVID19

I want to salute some real unsung heroes. More than 750 clinicians are staffing 311 day and night and they've answered 23,000 calls this week alone. They're doing crucial work, providing sound advice and support to New Yorkers. Their city applauds them for their efforts.

NYC: I need you to stay home. It is our civic responsibility to make sure we do all we can to stave off this #COVID19 pandemic, and that means staying home. It doesn't matter if you have a test or not, because what your doctor will ask you to do will be the same: #StayHomeNYC.

New #coronavirus guidance: Please avoid the emergency room unless you're seriously ill. Most cases of #COVID19 have mild/moderate symptoms that can be safely managed at home. Help stop the spread of the virus. Protect other patients & health care workers. bit.ly/2IjkErp

It's time to clear up the issues about testing. So I've put together a #COVID19 thread on spread. Addressing the Super-spreaders, Spreaders, and the essentiality of testing

The 1st #COVID19 case in the US was diagnosed Jan 21. It has since taken 53 days to do ~20,000 tests. That's how many South Korea does in 1 day now.

Medicare for All is projected to be wildly expensive based on paying for all the unnecessary treatment we do today at exorbitant prices. It gets way more affordable once you start talking about covering just the medically necessary evidence-based tests and effective treatments

Privately, doctors feel despair about their appalling working conditions and the deteriorating doctor-patient relationship. But there have been no marches on Washington, no picket lines, no social-media campaigns. Why not? nyer.cm/qqoLI3V
