The red scroll from the @NCTR_UM, naming children who died at residential schools. @papal_visit
Feeling grateful to @LandmarkCinemas today. Thanks to morning showtimes and distanced seating, we were able to take our chronically ill child and his sibling to see the minions today. Our first time in a theatre and we felt like someone cared about our needs.
Happy Int’l Non-Binary Day to all my fellow non-binary peeps. 💕 #NonBinaryDay 🌈
A MasterClass in how to call out transphobia in policy discussions.
Nothing is more ableist than our pursuit of “normal” expecting the most vulnerable to be fine with being collateral damage.
Asking vulnerable people to remove themselves from society and “stay home” because you don't want to wear a mask is peak privilege.
Puberty blockers (temporary, reversible) are more benign than going through a puberty that can’t be undone. If you can’t see that, then you really need to reflect on your biases and whether you consider #trans people *at all* when you form your opinions.
Just a reminder: children with pre-existing conditions deserve to be alive, too. I don’t want to read any more posts today saying it’s okay that kids died of COVID because they had a pre-existing health condition. It’s never okay to lose a child.
The question is not whether they had a pre-existing condition or comorbidity. The question is whether they would still be alive today if not for COVID.
The Ontario Ministry of Health Update today was just a further entrenchment of normalized deaths. Ten children have died from COVID-19, two are in ICUs right now. These were children, who died because @fordnation failed to protect them.
