I'm slowly leaving X and moving onto bsky. The "sky follower bridge" Chrome plugin makes it easy. See you on the flipside.
A paper about our next generation data acquisition system, ONIX, was just published: nature.com/articles/s4159…
Our latest study - psilocybin evokes structural neural plasticity, and we wanted to know how this maps onto pyramidal cell type-specific circuits to produce behavioral effects. 🍄🔬🧠 Link to @biorxivpreprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… Led by Ling-Xiao Shao and @ItsClaraLiao
And it's a wrap @SfNtweets The #sfnpigeon inspects final poster removal of #sfn2024. Until next year!!
Many many congratulations to @L_andreae on winning a prestigious #sfn24 prize for her work promoting EDI in neuroscience. Her work to start the @BritishNeuro Scholars got a mention in the citation as did her work in @network_alba . Well done and very well deserved
Thrilled to share the first preprint from the lab! We find that mouse V1 contains a three-dimensional map of visual space with different populations of neurons responding to near and far visual cues! Led by @yiran25_ with @populusalba9 and @ant_blot biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/n

Mixed commitment to rigor is not bad per se. Rigor, like all aspects of science, trades off against other things. If Rigor was all that mattered, Newton wouldn't have got anywhere with calculus. The key question is whether rigor is transparently traded against the right things.
Scientists: if you would decide to do your future research at a very high level of scientific rigor, how would that affect your future career in the field?
Excited to announce the first Bonsai Conference at @SWC_Neuro, a week-long event aimed at bringing together neuroscience researchers, computational scientists, and software engineers developing and using Bonsai. conference.bonsai-rx.org/2024/
We convert our setup monitors to synchronize them to the microscopes (2p and WF) they are used with (to reduce contamination light). Peter Buchmann at @FMIscience has made a PCB boards that can be used to convert Dell U2722D monitors.

Hey #ephys #neurotwitter, we made a thing! Now that our R2Drive has served 80+ labs, we noticed some of you like to use it with @imec_int Neuropixels probes. Those may have dovetail caps and the “drive” part of microdrive is less needed with such probes. Enter the R2np 📢📢
We are looking for a postdoc to lead a new project in olfactory diagnostics: can we detect human diseases using the mammalian olfactory system as supersensitive, broadband chemical detector? A lot of imaging, data analysis and gas chromatography…. rinberglab.com/positions

In @nytopinion The FDA earlier this month declined to approve MDMA for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. “The FDA’s rejection signals greater uncertainty for the future of psychedelic medicine,” Caty Enders writes. nyti.ms/46Yd8N6
