Great work from @CRSBIDMC @NoaBerlin @rahuldpow @MontefiorePulm @MontefioreCCM! Exploring biomarkers of kidney injury after cardiac arrest
Kidney-specific biomarkers for predicting acute kidney injury following cardiac arrest 🔗 resuscitationjournal.com/article/S0300-… #ResusTwitter
In post-cardiac arrest patients, creatinine, NGAL, & cystatin-C measured shortly after ROSC were higher in patients who subsequently developed AKI. No single biomarker was statistically superior to creatinine for predicting development of post-arrest AKI. doi.org/10.1016/j.resu…
Do I have this right? - ABIM requires yearly fees from physicians who are already cert to “maintain certification” - no evidence that MOC helps pt care - ABIM will report you as “not certified” if you don’t pay - hospitals require certification Idk kinda sounds like extortion
Nope. Not happening until I find out what this gets me , @ABIMFoundation What are we paying for? I’m certified…I took my boards and passed them.

Great progress but more work to be done! Need to think beyond some traditional IHCA QI metrics in the ICU. Can we do better at predict/preventing? @rahuldpow @mathiasholmb @MontefioreCCM @AHAScience @mdonnino @CRSBIDMC Thanks @accpchest for the beautiful visual abstract!
Adherence to American Heart Association quality metrics for resuscitation after cardiac arrest in the ICU remained high over 2006 to 2018. Read the original research from the September @journal_CHEST issue: hubs.la/Q01mPzvT0 #MedEd #MedTwitter @American_Heart
Last sat I did my first intra arrest intubation along with another intubation, 4 code blues (on the same patient), 3 central lines, 2 consults, additional rapid and follow regular micu pts. Let's see what in store today.
Lets give Vit C. Its not going to hurt. Not so benign treatment anymore. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

“Thiamine supplementation was not provided to almost half of all patients with AUD. Of the patients with AUD diagnosed only with septic shock, TBI, or DKA, 26%, 41%, or 24%, respectively, received thiamine.” @rahuldpow @mdonnino
Great work on this big GWTG project @lara_roess and glad to be a part of it. Thank you @mathiasholmb and @almoskow .
New GWTG-Resus data reveals high quality of care for ICU cardiac arrest pts. Focus improvement efforts on timely defib for shockable rhythms; add ’l research needed for prevention and post-arrest therapies. @almoskow @CRSBIDMC @rahuldpow #GWTGResearch spr.ly/6017KSbCt
#UncleBob recently recorded a podcast with @mdonnino on thiamine underuse in ICUs During the podcast he told the story of describing - Gastrointestinal Beriberi: A Previously Unrecognized Syndrome @Annals acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/00… @CPSolvers @rabihmgeha @uabimres @DxRxEdu
Our new paper just released confirming previous local findings- thiamine wasn't provided to almost half of pts with alcohol use disorders (risk for deficiency) admitted to ICUs across US. Simple vitamin that can be neuroprotective (e.g., Wernicke's) or even life-saving. @PulmCrit
New from @mdonnino @BIDMC_Medicine @LakshmanBalaji9 @mahmoudissas @grossestreuer @KateMBerg @almoskow : almost half of patients with #AUD don’t receive thiamine when hospitalized but are at higher risk for disorders caused by B1 deficiency: ow.ly/UwFy50H5fOs
