youtu.be/tZCBwsUJ8HA The 1992 State of Origin match between NSW & Queensland in 4 parts. (Look at the below description) @gregp3000 @Strauchanside @qldaff @AFLisnotasport @adrianbarich
For all their success at QAFL level, Mt Gravatt has struggled during the years that Palm Beach has been in the same comp. This is reflected in their combined history. Played 18 Palm Beach 16 Mt Gravatt 2
We're only talking about a history of 9 games in total (a drop in the ocean) - but it doesn't get any closer than this for these two clubs: Played 9 Surfers Paradise 4 Draw 1 Maroochydore 4
Broadbeach has had the advantage over Wilston Grange. After the Gorillas stirring win last week, can the Cats maintain their record? Played 16 Broadbeach 12 Wilston Grange 4
The only game with a decent history this week: Labrador & Morningside have built up a good tradition of contests, although the record certainly favours the Panthers: Played 57 Labrador 17 Morningside 40
Noosa & Redland had some great contests in the BAFL during the late 90s, in particular, a drawn Grand Final at Yeronga in 1999. The Sharks were promoted the next year. At QAFL level: Played 3 Noosa 0 Redland 3
Sherwood & Aspley played each other numerous times in SQAFA during the 1970s & early 1980s (& then a brief moment in 2000). At QAFL level, not so much: Played 6 Sherwood 0 Aspley 6
Anyone notice that we had a 22-point margin last week (Morningside V Broadbeach)? It was the 144th time a QAFL game has been decided by 22 points, the most frequent margin across all games.
How many times did these clubs play each other over a 40 year period? I don't know. If you can help with Gold Coast records, please let me know. As for QAFL: Played 25 Palm Beach 20 @SurfersDemons 5
The best historical record of the weekend, so applause for that. The Home side holds the advantage in the past - but today? Played 67 @MorningsideFC 42 @BroadbeachFC 25
Here is another great rivalry that was prominent during the SQAFA years of 1980s & 1990s. Now both clubs are in the QAFL, & it's a very close record: Played 21 Redland 11 @AspleyFC 10
This is the kind of traditional rivalry we like to see. However, it was at its most magnificent in SQAFA, mostly during the 70s. In QAFL, it is starting to grow: Played 28 @Mt_GravattAFC 19 @WesternMagpies 9
These clubs played each other often in the AFLSQ during the 90s, but at QAFL level, a close contest is starting to build: Played 9 @MaroochyRoos 5 @GorillasAFC 4
There is no great tradition between these two clubs (yet): Played 3 @LabradorFC 3 @NoosaTigersAFC 0
Quick hit of the history of today's @AFLQ clashes.... (Work has been intense for the past fortnight - that will happen from time to time.)
