Component properties can now be bound to variables Also, UI has been simplified so that props and variables are in the same dropdown

Low controversy opinion: Google should de-rank any image that has a grey/white checkerboard background in it. At no point in my life have I ever wanted an image with this prebaked. It's all just clickbait.

This might be my favorite project I’ve ever worked on — a completely redesigned eyedropper in @figma Out now!

Hot off the press - new eyedropper drops today in @figma It can now not only sample raw hexes, but also variables and styles. One of my favorite things is a hidden shortcut for power users: shift+⌘ will let you quickly create a new variable.

Using variables to change variants in @figma is cool and all, but have you used variables with component properties? Now you can! No detaching needed. Check out this tip to walk through the new unified UI and start binding variables to props - youtu.be/Z76T5ZsCJo4

As part of this month’s releases at @figma, we’ve launched a refreshed Swap Instance modal for cleaner, easier navigation! This update brings it closer to the assets panel, featuring enhanced grid & list views and the option to toggle subfolders to suit preferences. ✨

New iMacs dropped today. I'd love if there was an "iMac Pro" line, with a larger ultrawide monitor + higher level specs. I want to simplify, but I can't give up the productivity of more usable pixels.

If you want some solid brain rot content, I’d legitimately recommend Dungeon Crawl Carl.

Dungeon Crawler Carl, book 7. This Inevitable Ruin. E-book and paperback out 11/11. amazon.com/gp/product/B0D… Preorder now available. This is war. Audio: 2/25. Preorder for audio is forthcoming.

Sometimes you gotta let the community cook.

Today’s the day-everyone’s got UI3 and it’s here to stay! If you could use a 🤗, we’re here and listening! And thanks again to everyone who’s shared thoughts with us.

From Figma

baldurbjarnason.com/2024/liskovs-g… Love this overview and summary of react vs webcomponents, and why webcomponents haven't had great adoption. Goes deep, but is one of the best writeups I've seen of the issue.

This is beautiful. I want the internet to be more like this: dookiedemastered.com

flat ui is dead, embrace state-based-temporal-trend-shift ui.

Huge thanks to everyone who came to the Seattle Design Systems Community meetup tonight, it was a blast! I particularly liked how on the panel, @pwnies brought an optimistic point of view, so I could play the doomer on all things AI 🤖

Friendly Friday reminder: 👏 A component library is not a design system 👏 Neither is a codified set of design decisions 👏 Neither are fully documented semantic tokens If you reject the existence of design systems they can't hurt you.
