Some cultures are less valid than the UK's. So obviously, wanting to escape an insufficiently valid culture is a good reason to settle in the UK, and should be encouraged. That is what Kemi Badenoch was getting at, wasn't it?

This was me end of February--I was so happy, my first trade book out, a lot of podcasts lined up. Less than a month later, I'd sit in a doctor's office and digest the news that I had a rare cancer and that it might have spread. 1/

Princeton University Press sent me an advance author copy of Wonderstruck! (The non-advance copies will come out next month)

Democratic processes decide what to do when there is no fair option. They are a safety valve that gives us an alternative to civil war when the government gets too unpopular. Yes, the current system is unfair, but all the alternatives are unfair in different ways.

The only "Gender reveal parties" should be for a person to have - if they choose to - when they have had time, safety and ability to explore their gender and embrace who they are. That's a thing to celebrate.

That feeling of accomplishment when, after two days of poking around the system is still not running, but it just spat out a completely different error message.

I'm trying to imagine what would happen to a pregnant woman in MO who was diagnosed w advanced cancer. Needs chemo and radio. Then she tries to get one of the exemption to their anti-abortion law ("to save mother's life") Given urgency of treatment to begin, what a nightmare.

Can we all - PLEASE - move on from the brioche burger bun? They are the wrong flavour, the wrong consistency and they fall apart under minor handling. A simple bread bun is fine. Better than fine. It is better than brioche and cheaper. Who started this brioche bun nonsense??

Gender ideology is labeling people "male" or "female", and insisting that the labels are "correct" for all contexts. The guidelines are actually saying that children under nine shouldn't be taught that the official gender ideology is questionable.

Classic sexism in 4 easy steps 1: Label everyone as either a "woman" or a "man". 2: Value, but don't respect, the ones you call "women". 3: Respect, but don't value, the ones you call "men". 4: Tell each group that any problems this causes are down to the other group.

Genuine question, is any post that starts with the words "genuine question" actually a genuine question?

While this is the most shocking thing he ever did, it paradoxically wasn't one of the most harmful things he did. The difference? When he did this, I was no longer attached to him; it actually validated my experience of the more insidious harm he caused when I was attached.

[22 months post termination] Hi Erin, I'm separated from my wife now. Here's my personal email address if you want to catch up.

What I learnt on "For you" today: Women dancing alongside their female friends is too sexually suggestive. Apparently, they should embrace a man and move together rhythmically to avoid any suggestion of sex.

Thank you Adam. Therapists often conflate doing harm with being unethical (according to ethical framework). So when a client is harmed there tends to be incredulity and defensiveness. Harm can happen anyway and we have an ethical responsibility to hear, understand and repair.

Therapists, please remember that you can (and likely will) cause harm. Even if you do everything right, are compassionate, caring & a safe person. No one is above being able to cause harm to patients, and it doesn't make you a bad therapist. What is key is how you react to it.

Sadly, @UniKent has announced plans to axe a number of smaller departments, including philosophy. We perform well on all measures, including student recruitment. But smaller subjects have less clout and are easiest to cut. Help us shout out our value to the uni! They need to hear
