I am thrilled to have been part of Emma Rutherford's team that reidentified this stunning portrait as Princess Mary, who later became Queen Mary I. Displayed at @ComptonVerney, we argue that it was painted by Susannah Horenbout around 1546, making it a rare example of her work.

Remembering Capt Mark Haggard of the 2nd Bn, Welch Reg, who died on 14th Sept 1914. Capt Haggard was mortally wounded during the Battle of the Aisne. Despite his injuries he urged his men forward with words which later became the battle cry of the regiment: “Stick it, the Welch”.
