The vibrant, small-scale retail on our city’s main streets support our local economy and vibrant, walkable, affordable and successful neighbourhoods.  Unfortunately, we’re losing these cherished streetscapes to the all too familiar block-killing banks, giant dentist offices…

Thousands of Ontario residents came together to send a message to @fordnation and @PrabSarkaria that bike lanes save lives, solve congestion and transport goods.

“If you take out the food delivery bikes, there’s not many (bikes).” Here is Tory saying an entire class of workers - the young men who commute from Brampton to bring Rosedale its Uber Eats - don’t count. Clearly, they should cycle in mixed traffic and risk dying.

Former Toronto Mayor John Tory joined Moore in the Morning to discuss the bike lanes that were installed during his terms and shares where he thinks they work and where they don't.

We’re waking up with a Trump presidency, a GOP Senate majority & a potential GOP House majority. I won’t mince words: This represents a major threat to federal transit & housing programs + the whole federal safety net. Here’s a review of what we can expect:

4 days to the US election. What could be the effects of a 2nd Trump presidency on transport, housing & land use policy? Many outcomes are in the president's hands. But part of the answer depends on which party controls Congress—& how state & local governments act. A mega 🧵:

Pour one out for the old man from Scranton, PA, today. What a nightmare.

We don't need to share the same politics to want to see less encampments. But there's only one solution to homelessness: housing. @fordnation would rather remove homeless people's Charter rights than do his job to address the housing crisis. Sign & share: change.org/OntarioEncampm…

I've learned that some of the mayors who signed this letter did not consult with their local City Councils on it. This letter represents undemocratic decision-making by 13 politicians who aim to remove homeless people's Charter rights in lieu of solving the housing crisis.

12 Ontario Mayors are formally requesting that @fordnation invoke the notwithstanding clause to suspend encampment residents' Charter-protected rights so that they can be removed from encampments. The letter cites the Grants Pass Supreme Court decision in the U.S., which allows…

If you heard Doug Ford say only 1.2% of Torontonians bike to work and thought, "That can't be true" — you're right. The real number is around 10%. Add in errands & socializing: 44%. Add in all cycling: 70%. And growing. 🔓 No paywall #onpoli thetrillium.ca/news/municipal…

"Doug Ford says only 1.2% of Torontonians commute by bike. That's not true." Great work by @jackhauen explaining all the key data we need to know about cycling in Toronto - Thanks for citing my maps! thetrillium.ca/news/municipal…

There are no "secondary streets" for Yonge St. Mt. Pleasant and Avenue Rd. are the only other North/South roads. Doug Ford simply wants bike lanes gone, despite the actual data, and study after study, showing the economic, health, environmental, and safety benefits of bike lanes.

Bike lanes belong on secondary streets, not clogging traffic on main roads. It’s time to get you moving again.
