Inatasan ni Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. ang BFAR na magsagawa ng laboratory tests upang masuri kung ligtas kainin ang nakumpiskang frozen mackerel, dahil ito ay nakatakdang ipamahagi sa mga komunidad na naapektuhan ng mga nagdaang bagyo.

Ayon sa Pangulo, ang kabuuang nakumpiskang frozen fish ay maaaring makapagbigay ng 1 kilong isda sa 580,000 indibidwal. Matapos masigurong ligtas itong kainin, ipapamahagi ito sa mga evacuation center, hospital, at sa Bureau of Corrections.
