A difficult read, but this section below is what makes me want to redouble my efforts to encourage reading for pleasure. Reading does all this for me. And more.

“With children and young people’s enjoyment of reading at an all-time low, and high numbers leaving primary and secondary school without the reading skills they need to thrive, the futures of a generation are being put at risk” - @JDLiteracyTrust

My novel, The Book of Records, will slip into the world next year. I am so very grateful. Literature tries to hold, even fleetingly, what history and time dissolve.

A great evening at @bookhaus2 with author Yael Inokai talking about her novel A Simple Intervention. Yael was joined by her translator Marielle Sutherland and it made for such a rich discussion about the book. Thanks @PeirenePress Look forward to the next one. #ACEfunded

Could listen to Neneh Cherry talk all day. Incredible stories shared with bounds of warmth and wit. Particularly love that she was doing a shop in her local Sainsbury’s when Top of the Pops first aired her Buffalo Stance performance, so she legged it home to catch the end. Icon.
