Excellent review on resource availability in context of COVID-19 by @SCCM . Also sobering. 960,000 will need ventilatory support. US has 200,000 mechanical vents. But limiting factor will be ventilator trained personnel at 135,000 sccm.org/Blog/March-202…

There is NO WORSE feeling, NO SADDER words than those spoken by a mother who lost her son. We can only say that we will continue trying not to repeat it with another child @WFPICCS @LA_Rednetwork @SLACIP17 @slepe8 @ILASepse @atip_latam @SATIarg @soc_arg_ped #PedsICU #sepsis
In 16 days William would be 6. What would he look like? What would his favourite book be? What would he love about school? I’ll never know. Everyday is a struggle but I should be planning his 6th bday, I sit here with a heavy heart, a constant ache & a lump in my throat. #sepsis

Wrapping up an excellent day of 🧠 neuro sessions at @pccsa2019 by a wonderful and diverse group, including @ericka_fink , Jose Pineda and many others! Special thanks to the @TexasChildrens #PedsICU team for hosting a great meeting!
If we don’t keep our #ICU patients active during the day we cannot expect them to sleep well at night. #Sedation should only be reserved for cases where it’s medically/physiologically necessary- never to “help w/sleep” No one sleeps well after laying around all day! #icurehab
Sleep hygiene management - we recommend anyone who can’t sleep to not stay in bed. Change room. Do something to get sleepy. Don’t associate bed with being awake. In ICU we sedate them! We should mobilise them..? Interesting! #ICURecovery19
