If you’re tempted to respond to the below post with the saw off FL gif, please know the new, national education plan has had a test-run here. Unfathomable restraints on instruction/libraries, politicizing school boards, universal vouchers, school prayer. You must speak out.

The FLDOE’s statewide list is now nearly twice the size of its 22/23 removal list, and a quick review suggests the devastating impact of the vague language and misleading state guidance on HB 1069 has had on our children's opportunities to learn. fftrp.org/fldoe_publishe…

A lot of you want to resist what's been happening, and what will happen at an even more brutal rate, to our country. One thing to do is to protect the journalists, writers, librarians, and educators who present history and our nation in all its full complexity. #LetUtahRead

The last few years have been difficult for libraries and librarians. And with last night’s election results, the future for the profession just got a lot murkier, according to the customary election night wrap-up from nonpartisan library political action committee EveryLibrary.…

Believe the words we can’t bare to hear.. Today is a day to feel our losses, deeply. This is it its own form of resistance — to feel — This is not despair, this is grief —. and grief demands our presence. It moves with us, through us. This is what it feels like to care and to…

A lawyer from the SC Department of Education recommended banning Damsel by @ElanaKArnold for all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. We have heard no indication that the committee read the book. The author has responded: aclusc.org/en/news/my-boo…

In fact probably best not to rely on social media the next couple of days.

Here are five election disinformation trends you should expect -- and warn others not to fall for: 1. Raw video voting/polls. 2. Vote totals will jump. 3. Premature claims of victory. 4. Last-minute AI-generated images/videos. 5. Partisan claims of fraud. newslit.org/wp-content/upl…

This is an award-winning book that depicts a childhood crush. But because it's a same sex crush, some people want to ban the book. The ONLY way we stop censorship like this is by showing up and speaking up. Sign up for news and action alerts today at letutahread.org.

Another new challenge in Davis School District. I don't know how anyone could think this book actually violates the sensitive materials law, but here we are. @LetUtahRead @acluutah @AuthorsABB @EveryLibrary @PENamerica @TasslynM @veronikellymars @FReadomFighters @UABookBans

Happy Anniversary to @FReadomFighters, with deep appreciation for the important work you've been doing to fight censorship in Texas and elsewhere for the past four years!

Today is the 4th anniversary of our first action as Tx FReadom Fighters. Who knew we would be still engaged in a fierce effort to support intellectual freedom four years later? We didn't imagine it but we are here for it.

I ordered mine. Looking forward to reading it!

It's out! Anyone who wants to learn how to read a poem, write a poem (or teach a poem), this book has craft lessons, creative and critical exercises, and lots of examples of close readings. Good for high school up to grad school, novice to expert poets.
