That feeling of finally pressing 'submit' after 18 months of thinking, planning, writing and re-writing your first nationally competitive grant application. Thanks @FlindersEPSW @Flinders @ShapeResearch for assistance along the way #academiclife #DECRA #sportparents #1in6chance

Congratulations. Note you will still need to keep that internal voice in check.

Can we just stop saying schools are 20C industrial models and we need 21C. Anyone looked at what a lot of 21 C jobs are actually like? goo.gl/images/FVyxeM

When @raewynconnell asked Prof. Jillian Blackmore what the feminist academic should do FIRST to combat institutional inequalities she replied: ‘Look after yourself’ &, ‘don’t allow yourself to be constrained by the limits of the academy - you are the academy!” #GEACONF2018

Definitely a time for a modern debate on the public role of testing. Andy as usual sets out the key issues. Note: he does not say that testing should scrapped, or that govt led assessment should be terminated. Let's put the focus on classroom, school and system improvement.

A response to the Independent Review into Regional, Rural and Remote Education by members of the @AustAssocResEd #Rural Education Special Interest Group: aare.edu.au/blog/?p=2921 What will be the impact of the Review for rural schools and communities? @RuralEdOz @ABCRural

Phil you make some very important points about rural context and ways to work with that context. Even more important for students in remote locations. Hoping some decision makers read your piece.

When will the federal minister announce a full review of NAPLAN and one to be conducted by independent academic researchers not by edubusinesses or consultancy firms? This is a pressing need, given Its effects and now ten years of functioning.

I agree. Frustrated that we educators do not seem to be able to get a voice, despite the quality research being done.

We keep saying the same things. The wilful ignorance of pollies makes me so cranky
