Carbon monoxide incidents don’t wait until winter, and conversations about #COSafety shouldn’t either. Fuel-burning appliances should be regularly checked and maintained. Visit COsafety.ca

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) ALARM SOUNDS: 1. Immediately move to a fresh air location outdoors. Make sure everyone is accounted for. 2. Call 911 from the fresh air location. Remain there until emergency personnel declare that it is safe to reenter the home.
Today was Take Your Kids to Work Day and the grade 9 students stopped off at our training grounds and learned about the different careers within the fire service. They even got to see the crews doing live burn training!
It's Take Your Kid To Work Day! Students will visit Town Hall, @oakvilletransit, @oakvillefire, and spend the day learning about town operations and participate in a new interactive Amazing Race Oakville activity! Check out the graphic they helped our Creative Team design! 🎨
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, tasteless, and colourless gas. If you have a fuel burning appliance(s) or an attached garage, remember to install a carbon monoxide alarm by all sleeping areas. It's the law. oakville.ca/home-environme…
DO I NEED CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) ALARMS IN MY APARTMENT OR CONDO? You should have one if: *your unit has a fuel burning appliance *your unit is either ABOVE, BELOW or BESIDE a garage *your unit is either ABOVE, BELOW or BESIDE a service room QUESTIONS? Call us @ 905-338-4404
In a rental home, landlords and tenants have different responsibilities when it comes to ensuring that CO and smoke alarms continue to work. If you have any questions or concerns about the CO and smoke alarms in your rental unit, please call Fire Prevention at 905-338-4404.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is called "the silent killer." You can't smell, taste or see it, so ensure you have working CO alarms in the home. CO poisoning symptoms are similar to the flu. If the CO alarm sounds, immediately go outdoors. Call 911 from a fresh air location.
Did you "fall back" early this morning? Daylight Savings Time starts today. When you change your clocks, don't forget to check your smoke and CO alarms. If they are battery operated with a replaceable battery or have battery back-up, don't forget to change the battery too.
