Apple indeed added a feature called "inactivity reboot" in iOS 18.1. This is implemented in keybagd and the AppleSEPKeyStore kernel extension. It seems to have nothing to do with phone/wireless network state. Keystore is used when unlocking the device. github.com/search?q=repo%…

New from 404 Media: police freaking out at iPhones stored for forensic examination mysteriously rebooting themselves. This makes brute forcing much harder. Cops hypothesize Apple pushed an update that tells nearby iPhones to reboot if not on phone network 404media.co/police-freak-o…

I'm working on a fork of mkdocs that will include all the best extensions natively. This new project, dubbed mk-ultra, will enable authors to easily--what? Oh. Wait, seriously? WTF. For how long? Oh my god. Uh, ok scratch that. Going to rethink the name.

This is the kind of thing that only gets fixed when an executive sends out an e-mail with a screenshot asking how the hell things were allowed to go this far.

Just ran software update. Got this. Steve would have had an aneurysm.

Wonder what happens to AS3356 as Colt aquired Lumen assets in Europe? It will be jointly operated with some commercial relation between Lumen and Colt. Source: news.lumen.com/lumen-colt-tra… Sounds complicated!

Next week at @ACMSIGCOMM, @ThomasAlfroy will present our new BGP route collection platform that runs at bgproutes.io and that radically changes how we collect BGP routes to reduce current visibility gaps. #BGP 1/4

Common ways to run containers on a single host 🔽 - Docker: the de facto standard - Podman: Docker-like UX but daemon-less - nerdctl: similar UX but atop containerd - ctr: much lower-level, also uses containerd I prepared a series of sandbox environments to try them all out 👇

Some gas stations in the county are selling cases of water for $30-50, but there's no need to panic or pay inflated prices. Free water shipments are on the way, and you'll be taken care of. Stay calm, and you'll be alright.

The macOS interface of Ghostty started as a single Zig file (Linux was first). I quickly realized I needed Swift for access to native features and figured I'd just need a few files. Today, still in beta, the macOS build of Ghostty has become quite a large, complex application!…

AWS is moving away from 10G to 400G PNIs. If the peer does not support this, traffic will be exchanged via IXPs or even transit, as presented by Frederik from @AWS at #EPF! #peeringfamily

Yes, in a Cisco 7609 because the linecard didn't support adding an L3 gw to a pseudowire endpoint so we looped the cable around to a port that was tagged for an SVI.

Okay, here's a fun one. Have you ever found a real (non malicious) use case for plugging a switch into itself?

Is anyone aware of a BGP instance that actually scales horizontally? When I restart BGP on devices of different vendors, I see that between 2 and 4 cores (varies by vendor) run at 100% until BGP is converged and the other 4/8/12 cores are idle.
