Every Spring ~150 ETHZ students build and operate their own Internet infrastructure composed of 50+ networks (ASes) and 100s of routers. Disconnected at first, their Internet "lightens up" gradually as students configure their networks to enable end-to-end connectivity. (1/5)
If you're interested in learning or teaching about P4, check github.com/nsg-ethz/p4-le… out. It contains an easy-to-use virtual environment, plenty of working examples, and *11* fully-documented exercises sessions (with solutions). It's all open source & we're open to pull requests!
Virtual mini-Internet helps students learn how to be network operators s.apnic.net/miniinternet
In the fifth talk of our "WFH" series of inspired presentations + panels, Thomas Holterbach discusses the open-source platform ETH Zurich uses to teach students how the Internet practically works, which can also be adapted to other networking courses 👉 buff.ly/2RhzrIb
@KTrel67 at #NANOG78: Download your own mini-Internet (developed and maintained by @ETH) and run it as a education/teaching platform. Impressive work!
Super happy to receive a 2nd Golden Owl Teaching Award by ETH's students association! Kudos to my amazing team of TAs. Part of our lectures consists in having ~100 students build their own Internet infrastructure, a project that we've now open-sourced: arxiv.org/pdf/1912.02031…
