Every few years I wonder if I could get a camera, make it stare down my desk, and get a continuous video feed to my computer. And each time it's impossible to tell if the stupid 30-minute recording limit can be bypassed or not.
There is something nice in administering a device that sits on your desk without connecting a screen or a keyboard to it. And there is something weird in doing exactly the same to a device somewhere in the cloud. Perception does a lot.
Escape on tap, control on hold.
i don’t trust an engineer that doesn’t have caps lock mapped to escape
Reading (again) about lambda calculus, combinators,... and feeling (again) pretty stupid.
From the OpenBao documentation: "It is also good security practice for there to be multiple eyes on a terminal whenever a root token is live." This reminds me of the opening scene of WarGames.
I'm listening to music almost all the time. It happens quite often that I want to watch a movie, but I dislike the idea of turning off the music. And I sit there, like the dog in the middle of the room that can't choose between the left plate and the right plate, and stays there.
I'm already missing my T480 physical mouse buttons, but the @FrameworkPuter 13 looks great.
"[Haskell] should be suitable for teaching, research, and applications, including building large systems" Paul Hudak, in 1991
LLMs are so good that each company offers more than one, and forces you, the human, to evaluate and select the model the more likely to be effective before you even talk to it.
I'm planning to stay stupid, tomorrow and after.
I've written a bit of documentation about using Nix (and nix-darwin) on @OakHost_Support to run NixOS virtual machines. wiki.nixos.org/wiki/NixOS_vir… Thanks @jgalowicz for your blog post!
I've learned that there is a monthly Nix meet-up in Brussels since a few months!
After spending a few years providing NixOS consulting, and building tooling around it, it's time to take account. How hard is it to go from zero to a deployed application running on NixOS? This article aims to serve as a benchmark for future tooling. numtide.com/blog/it-takes-…
I've made a Show HN post for Slab (slab-lang.org) but it didn't get a lot of points. I think I've failed to show how Slab is different than other templating languages. Maybe its programming language likeness (providing its elegance) is hard to convey too.
