After spending almost a decade at startups, I’ve realized that org design is an underrated skill. A well thought out org structure is integral to revenue growth, hiring, and retention. Org design says more about your company strategy than a strategy doc ever can.
Is it just me or have other people noticed that it is much more common for people who go to psychedelic and meditation retreats to become even more narcissistic and ego driven than it is for them to become better (kinder) humans with processed baggage? Disclaimer: I have done…
Prototyping and dogfooding is better advice than "ship fast and break things":
Slack/Teams were pitched as saving us from email Instead, chat replaces your 1 asynchronous inbox with 1,000 just-in-time inboxes This was, undoubtedly, a terrible mistake
the solution to loneliness isn’t a product, it’s increasing your own surface area of social serendipity a few ways to do it: - choose to live in a city and neighborhood that has enough of the kinds of people you enjoy talking to - make leaving the house and walking around the…
If I'm known to be anything, I would like to be known as an early supporter and believer. Everyone claps when you're finally crushing it, but I know the importance of having people cheer for you when you're trying.
Every now and again you run into people or concepts that "break your brain." That challenge you, make you think (and rethink), expand you, and get you really digging deep & chewing on topics for a few days after. Best feeling in the world.
All problems are messaging problems—fully, largely, or partly.
creating the ideas you want to bring to life requires you to be more intentional with your time, energy, and space. it requires you to say no, to be in solitude, to uphold your values and priorities.
Always a pleasure to see @CoupletCoffee out in the wild 🫶🏽
foxtrot is the BEST - my friend was looking for gifts for her brother in chicago & found this 🤠
I need this to happen except at work instead of school and as a hackathon. Like… a cheese-athon,
In 6th grade, we had to do a cheese report. Every student was assigned a cheese, and we had to write a report on it, then bring our designated cheese into class for cheese day so we could all try it. Honest to god brilliant move by our teacher to get free cheese. 🧀🧀🧀🧀
Gratitude is the greatest motivator. Realizing that you stand on the shoulders of giants, that everything you have now was fought and labored for by those who came before you and had way less than you. Nothing gets me going like a deep appreciation for collective prosperity.
I love putting together spreadsheets a little bit too much. Planning a party? google sheet Finalizing a girls trip itinerary? google sheet Planning out my dogs allergy meds? google sheet Don't even get me started on what my work google drive looks like. Sheets everywhere.
Being easy to work with is a superpower.
I’ve been quiet on here but I had to share one of my favorite January memories… dogsledding in SLC! Pure joy.
Idk who needs to hear this but just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t learn to swim, take dance classes, start gymnastics, learn a new language, etc. like I know it’s obvious but sometimes we need the reminder.
it’s never too late to make a change for the betterment of how you feel for the rest of your life — relationship, job, career path, etc. sunk cost isn’t real. life is short.
1. It’s Audacity that allows you to skip steps. To leave the job everyone stays at, or to make big asks & big moves in the one you have. Departing from what everyone else is doing, saves years of time. Look around & make a departure. If you’re the same, you’re coasting.1/
A highly under-utilized tactic for product managers to master the art of communication & influence is to watch the best enterprise sales team member at your company run a high-stakes meeting with an important customer.
