How can co-created stories (and a little bit of speculation) explore the problem of polypharmacy? We shared our co-design outputs with primary care colleagues at #sapcasm today. More info sapc.ac.uk/conference/202… and medicinestalk.co.uk

A lovely paper by @ninafudge and colleagues in @BMJ_Qual_Saf, highlighting how polypharmacy can be a delicate matter to negotiate and how medication reviews can be hard to disentangle from other aspects of medical care.

This video-reflexive ethnographic study reveals that improving decision-making about polypharmacy during medication review will depend in part on the affective or emotional quality of the clinician-patient relationship. bit.ly/3eZsqun

a must-read article on multimorbidity & chronic living: "a focus on daily life pushes researchers to move beyond ‘lumping’ people together into one study population and freeze-framing their “illness experience” into predictable patterns." link.springer.com/article/10.105… @ayo_wahlberg

Another brilliant paper using #videoreflexiveethnography was just published - a study of polypharmacy in general practice. Beautifully written and wonderful insights. Congratulations to Deb Swinglehurst @ninafudge & @luciehogger! qualitysafety.bmj.com/content/early/…

My first blog! Introducing a new study about GP ‘hidden work’. As a clinician I used to say I was doing ‘admin’. A paltry shorthand. Non patient facing work essential for effective care. apollosocialscience.org/2022/08/24/hid…

Welcome to our new #THISfellow @ninafudge from @QMUL_WIPH @QMULnews! Her project will explore how structured medication reviews contribute to addressing the complex challenge of optimising medicine use for people prescribed more than 10 medicines. ths.im/34nGQiW

Spent today reading transcripts of interviews with patients who have been in ICU with COVID. Their experiences resonate so much but it still makes me well up to think what they went through, both because of COVID and the things we did to try and save them. 1/3

Great new paper and timely as we write up our #polypharmacy research. Thank you 😊

New paper arguing for better analysis of how concepts of 'overuse', 'value', 'evidence' are employed in restrictive policy & practice. Enables greater visibility of the forms of care/stakeholders that win or lose in various scenarios. With @drnatarmstrong tinyurl.com/b6dsezn2
