Tragic that only 47% @MidwivesRCM members voted & even though 88% of those that did so voted for industrial action it doesn’t meet the threshold. So we are destined to have little political clout & remain undervalued & underpaid. There is a lot of disillusion, burnout & anger 🤷♀️

All over the news today: more than half of English maternity units deemed unsafe. If this were the case for male-centred services, there would be national uproar and swift change. Westminster, stop squabbling and act now to save lives and stop the midwifery exodus.

Saying it once for @thetimes and the people in the back: Midwives are required to complete regular training in neonatal resuscitation, based on guidance from the British Resuscitation Council. We know that oxygenation, not ‘the spirit’, saves lives. FFS.
