Today I learned scientists discovered a dinosaur tail perfectly preserved in amber. It is full of feathers.
Been a rough day, exacerbated by insomnia and an anxious brain. But feeling grateful that I have the opportunity to read, learn from, and examine a fascinating PhD thesis by one of our awesome PhD candidates at Exeter. And all the while Korra snuggles and snores at my feet.
101: Antigonid Macedon - A House Divided We cover the final years of Philip V, who seeks to restore Macedonian power through economic and military reform. Meanwhile, the two princes Perseus and Demetrius are embroiled in an appropriately Greek tragedy. tinyurl.com/ed4nes6z
Currently editing episode 101, and it's bit sad. Few characters have had such a recurring role in the podcast as Philip V of Macedon, who made his first appearance way back in episode 64 during the reign of Demetrius II. 42 years on the throne will do that!
The #AntigonidNetwork resumes its programme of online research seminars on Tuesday 15th October, 5pm UK time, with a paper by Felipe Soza ‘From Empire to Kingdom: Reconceiving the Antigonid State after Cynoscephalae’. Register to receive the Zoom link: Universityofexeter.zoom.us/meeting/regist…
On the next episode, we will return to our narrative. Following his defeat in 197, Philip V spends the next two decades restoring Macedonian power under Rome's watchful eye, but is seemingly powerless to prevent infighting between his sons Perseus and Demetrius over the throne
