Types of helmets that don’t work: Helmet strap hanging way below the chin Helmet with strap undone Helmet too big Helmet too small No helmet

Sometimes I wonder how doctors allowed all this to happen

headaches, a notoriously easy to diagnose and treat entity 🤔 (for the laypeople no, no they aren’t)

NEW: Ontario pharmacists will be able to treat and prescribe 14 additional minor ailments: Sore throat, calluses and corns, mild headaches, shingles and minor sleep disorders. #onpoli

I’ve always wanted to see a debate between wernicke's area and broca’s area

(1/3)I was gutted to learn from the media that after 19 years Im banned from the Nathan's July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest. I love competing in that event, I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the 4th and I have been training to defend my title.

I recommend strongly against this. The kind of individualistic take prevents vulnerable patients from receiving necessary medication. “Sorry, transplant patient, there are no antivirals left because a bunch of very nervous 20 year olds read a bad tweet.”

💡LISTEN UP—I would start STOCKPILING these flu medicines (xofluza, relenza, Tamiflu) for your family STARTING NOW. If bird flu is ever human-to-human transmissible… you will regret it when near-certain shortage hits. (Many epidemiologists/MD friends all agree & already started)

BREAKING: Ontarians continue to have more access to beer than healthcare

BREAKING: The Ford government is spending $225 million to speed up the implementation of beer and wine in corner stores. After Sept 5, all convenience stores province-wide will be able to sell beer and wine. After Oct 31, all grocery stores will be able to opt-in. #ONpoli

hey @SylviaJonesMPP sign up to be matched with a family doctor through healthcare connect and let us know how long it takes

NEW: Recruitment and retention of doctors in Ontario is “not a major concern,” the Ministry of Health suggests as it argues with the Ontario Medical Association over physician compensation. Via @allisonjones_cp globalnews.ca/news/10481990/… #onpoli

what defines “dr” and makes our profession unique comp to others? it is founded on the specific knowledge that allows us to promote, maintain, and restore health. Dr, teacher, HR can all focus on anti-racism+equity. universally important but w the unique lens of our profession.

Medicine is at a crossroads. Please read our piece on the pushback to challenging power when trying to centre equity in CanMeds and more. If we want to actually move towards anti-oppressive healthcare, we need action. journalhosting.ucalgary.ca/index.php/cmej… #meded #MedTwitter cc @SarooSharda_MD

Interesting who the gov’t target while Weston increased his wealth significantly during a pandemic and affordability crisis. Banging the metaphorical pots and pans for healthcare workers except on paper. Easy targeting a profession who can’t legally take collective action.

Incredible. Minister admits capital gains increases could cause family doctors to leave Canada. Not to worry, though, she says, we’ll just bring in more foreign trained docs.

Shocking and preventable. The city’s total warming centre capacity is 177. Meanwhile emergency departments never reach “capacity” and are expected to stretch their means as much as possible to fill massive gaps. How many more people need to die in the cold before change is made?

A Kenyan asylum seeker died over the weekend after she waited hours in the cold to get into a shelter space. The woman was a widow and mother of 4 children who are still in Kenya. toronto.citynews.ca/2024/02/23/ken…

Novel idea: why don’t we pay the nurses more so they don’t have to leave and return to the same hospital 3 weeks later as an agency nurse with glasses and a mustache. And then the agency doesn’t make money for doing nothing as the middleman.

NEW: What Ontario hospitals pay nurses: up to $50/hr What Ontario hospitals pay private staffing agencies for a nurse: $100/hr (& up) The auditor general finds hospitals across the province doubled their use of nursing staffing agencies in just 1 year.👇 cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

petition for toronto city council to sleep outside tonight (4 degrees, pouring rain, feels like 0) and still say this is adequate for other human beings

cbc.ca/amp/1.7032754 Here @oliviachow claims she changed the threshold for warming centres from -15 to -5. 👀 City council made this change on May 10 secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda…. Chow was elected June 26. We need the mayor to do better than Tory. The status quo is killing people.

Please stop telling people with high blood pressure but no other symptoms that they MUST GO TO THE ER RIGHT NOW. When you give them this urgency, and our recommended practice is to not intervene on patients with good follow-up, we are setting everyone up to be disappointed/upset.

does your dog climb into the pillows and kick you in the head to wake you up or are they normal?

“The housing crisis can only be solved by adding more houses”🤝overly simplistic DoFo policy 🤝“The healthcare crisis can only be solved by adding more beds”

With @fordnation, we choose to build. Because young Canadians deserve the same opportunity as the last generation to own a home, start a family, and live a life of dignity and purpose. nationalpost.com/opinion/doug-f…
