Thanks to @neha_mishra_nm and @Kholofelo_M for this examination of whether community values could offer a normative foundation for rules governing digital trade, with a case study of the AfCFTA inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu. Open access 👉bit.ly/3YOoJLh
Though global digital integration is desirable, there is no systematic framework to drive it in trade agreements. Can community values offer a narrative foundation for that? Prof @neha_mishra_nm & @Kholofelo_M explore this in their latest article: lnkd.in/dQqri8mK
I will speak on the unexplored issue of #Decolonisation, #custom and #opinioJuris at the Graduate Institute, Geneva. See you.
An absolute pleasure to collaborate with @Kholofelo_M for this article in @ICLQ_jnl, arguing the relevance of a community and solidarity lens for digital trade rulemaking under the AfCFTA. Available open access: bit.ly/4fxYxLK.
It was an honour to write this paper with @neha_mishra_nm published by @ICLQ_jnl We examine how concepts of international community, solidarity and community values, which, we argue, fall under the lens of Ubuntu in Africa, can inform digital trade rule making in Africa.
💡Prof @neha_mishra_nm recently prepared a policy analysis for @IISD_news, examining the current landscape of int'l trade law and discussing strategies for balancing trade goals with privacy protection, fairness & competition. Read it here: lnkd.in/dx_ZTamA

Delighted to share my latest article published in the ICSID Review. I argue there is an increasing GATTization of essential security interest (ESI) clauses in investment treaties. I classify ESI clauses into GATT-type, GATT-minus and GATT-plus types. academic.oup.com/icsidreview/ad…
