Had a great experience at the WFC this year! Thanks to the organizers and to the wonderful colleagues new and old who attended. I was inspired by the conversations about equity, food sovereignty, and non-commercial fisheries research with you all!

The future of food security is uncertain due to climate change, but we must consider the historical impact of colonialism on communities. A commentary by @natureB discusses this complex issue in the context of fisheries in small island developing states: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

I am humbled to share a commentary about climate change and vulnerability in tropical fisheries. While there are many discussions to be had, I focused my attention on the issues of power that stymie adaptive management processes and suggest more focus on fish-as-food. Link below.

This year’s #AAG2023 was so packed with good stuff, I’d understand if you missed out in-person session- but fortunately you can still view the recording! Huzzah! Link below.

Attending @theAAG? Please join us for an in-person session focusing on the importance of "blue" food systems! Featuring research from the Gambia, Madagascar, the Eastern US and Samoa. @MarSocSci

I recommend @ceferguson1 ‘s podcast Surf & Turf! Listened on my morning walk to a great discussion of San Diego fishers’ adaptation to changing waterfronts & markets, become embedded in their community, and push to be heard by decision makers -& explain weather to non-fishers😅

Happy opening day to all who celebrate! #ITFDB 💙

Some folks have asked if I'm going to the @4sWeb conference in Hawaii given myriad justice issues (colonialism incl colonial tourism, water issues, climate change). It's a strong no. Panels on justice issues & the inclusion model are not justice...

Sharing this valuable perspective on the next #AAG meeting. Let's listen and then act to make it more just and beneficial for Kanaka Oiwi (Native Hawaiian) students, scholars, and communities.

Ok so I'm never attended an @theAAG or @4sWeb meeting but have been drawn into exchanges on both conferences at this point. This is a good start... (1/n)

Excellent session on radical food geographies at #AAG2023 this morning! Organized by @CharlesLevkoe featuring authors from upcoming book. Especially excited for the legal geographies of food policy explored by @EricaZurawski and @foodacademics !
