I think as coaches we all like players that can light up the radar gun. But if they can’t throw strikes at the High School level I’m not throwing those guys! I’m throwing the guys that don’t walk guys with a good secondary. This gives us a better chance to win & we win a lot.
I just heard of the passing of Tony Gorman. He was a longtime CT official. I always felt a sense of calmness when he refereed my soccer games. His respect for the players, the coaches and the game is something I will never forget. A true gentleman and class act. RIP

So many, too many, parents, AD’s and coaches are not willing to hold kids accountable. They would rather be their friend and pave the way.
As adults, we need to stop 'stealing the struggle' from our kids. When we 'steal the struggle', we steal their opportunity for growth & learning. We need to prepare them for the path (teach resilience, reflection, and self-respect), but we can't prepare the path for them.
