On our way to Plant Health, we visited the Lonoke, AR area, seeing great examples of root knot nematode galling and foliar symptoms, as well as southern blight (A. rolfsii). Thank you @travisfaske for getting the learning started before we even made it to Memphis! @plantdisease
Last Thursday, it was great to hear from recent PLPM graduate Dr. Khanal (@SKhanal33) and others at the Beaumont Rice Field Day. It was a good day for disease hunting too, with finding panicle blight (Burkholderia, 3rd picture), among others 🌾
Had a good time speaking about corn, cotton, and sorghum diseases at the Matagorda Co. crop tour last Thursday! Not much disease to be seen, but we did find a little southern rust (Puccinia polysora) 🌽
Hot and humid conditions in the Brazos Bottoms today for nematode soil sampling. Thankfully, we beat the rain! #cotton #agriculture
Cotton planting in the Brazos Bottoms yesterday, and spraying corn in the Lower Rio Grande Valley today makes for a busy end of the week! Corn, cotton, and sorghum all look good in the LRGV thanks to the recent rains! #agriculture
Today was year 4 of cotton planting for me in the Sun City area ☀️ As per usual, I was impressed by the sights that the area has to offer. Interested to see what this year’s FOV4 pressure brings us! #cotton #agriculture
First cotton planting of the year (for me that is)! This time it’s a seed treatment nematicide trial close to campus in Burleson County.
I was in Williamson Co., TX today collecting soil, and saw corn seedlings popping up - field season is here!
Had a wonderful time at the 101st APS Southern Division Meeting! I enjoyed learning about all the cool research going on and making new friends! @sd_aps #inourplantpathologyera Super proud of all the @ClemsonUniv graduate students that presented! #GoTigers
It was wonderful to be back in SC for this year’s @sd_aps meeting! A week full of ideas, great conversations, and fun times. Feeling very grateful to be representing the Southern Division at the upcoming @plantdisease national meeting! See y’all in Memphis!

Had a great time at the Beltwide Cotton Conferences in Fort Worth last week. Many interesting presentations and discussions! Also, I was honored to receive 1st place in the Disease Council’s student presentation competition! #BWCC24 @NCottonCouncil
Earlier this week, I helped get some of the last of the cotton crop harvested at the TAMU research farm. The weather threw us a bone by sending some clouds our way! #cotton #agriculture
Spent the last 2 days helping out with cotton harvest. Only snag in our progress was the picker and us overheating ☀️🔥☀️ #cotton #agriculture
We are happy to announce that Dr. Won Bo Shim, has been named as the permanent department head of the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology starting September 1st! Learn more about Dr. Shim's passion for #PLPM ➡️ tx.ag/Shim
“Crazy top” in sorghum spotted yesterday. We are leaning towards attributing it to smut, as opposed to downy mildew. Very cool symptomatology! #sorghum #agriculture #plantdisease
Wide-spread potassium deficiency in cotton spotted in Williamson Co today. The issue is helped along by hot and dry weather. #cotton #agriculture
COLLEGE FOOTBALL BEGINS THIS MONTH‼️ And @PostMalone is here to get us ready 🎵
I think areolate mildew has showed up 7-10 days earlier than in 2022. Pay attention to the lower-to-middle canopy. Symptoms typically present on the leaf underside, but at least in MS we are seeing symptoms and signs of the fungus on the upper leaf #mscrops @CottonInc
