The FBI (Furr bureau of investigation) is ready for their first mystery! Will @FurrElem 5th graders be able to use their non fiction strategies, like finding the main idea and analyzing text structures, to solve the mystery?! So excited for this! 🕵️😎

Worksheet based curricula makes me want to vomit & looking that the proposed Bluebonnet curriculum that the state will be incentivizing for districts to adopt if the vote passes makes me sad. Where are all the research proven learning strategies and engagement with the materials?

More Wicked Hydra @lead4ward ! Students collaborated to find the main idea and identify the text structure/ key words that signal that structure!

Gearing up for some Wicked Hydra tomorrow! This is a new strategy for me so I am pretty excited to use it!

Using read aloud to introduce main idea strategies/ modeling writing about reading! 🥰 We learned sometimes we will be asked about the main idea of an entire text, and sometimes it’ll just be the main idea of a section- so it’s important to keep track of both!

Collaboration happening to sort text features! Loved hearing the student discourse! Yeah they can do it, but goal is ALWAYS that they can talk about their learning too!

It was an engaging day in 5th grade RLA! We played 4 corners to review our Unit 2 summative AND tried out a new style of collaboration for writing that ended in a spooky story for a little spooky learning! These kids make teaching the best!! 👻

My students blow my mind everyday with their amazingness! 3 of them surprised me with a “Poem Book about Ms. Deese” where they showed off what we learned! So sweet! They have the sweetest hearts! 💞
