The Bear and Mountaineer Falls Shelter somehow survived Helene! We navigated our way through with loppers but there is still much chainsaw work to do. It will take a while but the #AppalachianTrail will recover.
Let's play find the white blaze again! Yesterday the weather didn't cooperate, so we hit the #AppalachianTrail today. #TrailMaintenance was south of Walnut Mountain Rd, Roan Mountain, TN. Helene was very busy here! There was alot of over, under and through. We made progress!
Two rescues in need of homes... 🙏🏼💞 They were found in the Winston-Salem area...
Oops! Sometimes this happens! (We go it out.) For #TrailMaintenance today we had several teams on different sections. I was on my section of #AppalachianTrail and cleared 26 blowdowns in .3 mile. Still haven't been to Moreland Gap Shelter which has a tree in it. Maybe next time!

This was the final Hiking w/ Tools! event for the year. Helene saw to it that we will still be busy, however. We got alot done this week. Finished clearing from Iron Mountain Shelter to TN91. We saved one of largest blowdowns for last! Thank-You #AppalachianTrail Volunteers!

Another Helene cleanup day on the #AppalachianTrail. #TrailMaintenance today was South of TN91, Shady Valley, TN. The sawyers were out but we were ahead with the handsaws and loppers, making it easier for them. Despite the drizzly rain, it was a Great day!
