Up through the clouds to nice inversion on Ben Vrackie. Persuaded group to do a longer route rather than an out-n-back, rewarded with a brocken spectre and some nice autumn views

Exploring woods n small hills around Banchory with obligatory stop at Falls of Feugh. WTFs: Somebody chopped down the japanese maples nearby and a lot of 'no access' fencing & signs around; but soon soothed by deep mossy and mushroomy woods, and extreme larch-glow

A stormy overnight camp but then a pleasant autumn wander along and above the Dee, Derry and Quoich. Oct 20 #cairngorms

Yasss snow is back (albeit temporarily). Four hills around #lochnagar. 4/4. Around to Conachcraig & Caisteal na Cailleach then autumnal stroll back on the track down to Crathie

Yasss snow is back (albeit temporarily). Four hills around #lochnagar. 3/4. The quiet terrain has the locals peeping out: well camouflaged ptarmigan and obvious hares dark in summer garb against the snow. Popped up behind the top back into busy human world, lots of folk out

Yasss snow is back (albeit temporarily). Four hills around #lochnagar. 2/4. Up the rarely visited NW side, rimed boulderfield ahoy, sun dogs overhead.

A good evening; at a talk about foraging in The Cairngorms then a bike down to the sea for more space rays. 100s of folk out down at the beach boulevards. Lots of chatting to randoms sharing in the moment

Mild stroll with a group from Dinnet to Tullich. Always nice to introduce folk to enter the vat for the 1st time. Persuaded them to continue upstream beyond the falls, a "hidden gem" albeit rugged in spots for tentative walkers. Sun arrived late but lit up #autumn colours

Some good foraging recently, mushrooms, berries, nuts. I will need to find my nutcrackers though: quick substitute tool is proving slow going #foraging

8.9.24 Cairngorm club traverse via goat track, Macdui, Sron Riach, Linn o'Dee. Good craic and atmospheric clouds 2/2 #cairngorms

Inside Gryp's Chamber. There's enough room for a dozen folk to sit around but barely flat floor for 1 to sleep. A bottle and a tub of firelighters reveal it must get the odd visit, perhaps by trainee deer stalkers - the surrounding corrie is peppered with coloured targets

While 'heather belaying' up out of the corrie also found a berry unknown to me - not a cowberry but research afterwards showed them to be 'bunchberry', fruit of the dwarf cornel. Slightly larger than a cowberry. Bland tasting.

Over Cairn Caidloch to Carlochy, rummaged for Gryp's Chamber. Tricky 'Short cut' up a steep side then bog-hopping down to the falls. Good to see repaired bridge which I'd a small part in sorting. Walk past loch went quick, random chat with a uni prof on AI & quantum computing 2/2

25/8 high wind & horizontal rain all day in Glen Clova, decided against Mayar/Driesh; up to Davy's Bourache, squelched over to Bachnagairn abandoning visiting Loch Esk howff, marched down the Esk. Glad to get food and warmth in the hotel before the drive home 2/2

18/8 Broad Cairn & Cairn Bannoch, explored down steep north side, mingling with deer & ptarmigan; where's the line of old posts go? ..off a small cliff. Pottered at the slabs, found deep pools below The Stulan, rummaged in woods for 'bothy full' camp spots 2/2 #cairngorms
