heard about this "new discovery" of Jesus. It's been known for ages. My favorite part is when his carpenter dad accidentally cuts a plank too short. His son just reaches over and gently stretches it to the right size. Alalways liked liked that tale.

Election guess 2: 20 percent It's Nikki vs Mrs Obama.

lection prediction 1: Here in FL, the new obortion law and the weed questestion will bring out a different mix. FLFlorida PLUE? hmm.

Does anyone know of a usb keyboard that speaks las typed character, like "shift P", "comma", " b " ? it' can be a real bear to type in passwords wityout a peek option. TIA.

The Tourist (Netflix) is a great yarn, sort of. The first third introduces well-defined characters and a great mystery. An then the writer turned to the AI. Still worth a look... for a while.

Gosh darn it, it's Lent again. Forty long days without broccoli . I'll power through it, though.

If you live in the northern-ish part of the US, a solar storm is bringing the Northern lights to unusually southern places. Wait for darkness and then look to the south.

You know who have really terrible jobs? Telemarketers for actual cans of spam.

I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you. Yes, it's the Daily Mail, but the WaPo article is behind a paywall. They wuz lying about Covid deaths. (If you died of a gunshot wound and happened to have covid, you counted as a covid death.)

Fun fact: we have found thousands of planets in our galaxy, but Mars stands out from all of them in that we know that (1) it supports a population of somewhat intelligent creatures and (2) they are ALL robots. Perhaps we should rename it? "Cybberneo? Fascinating.

I was very, very lucky to have all of you folks on the forum. Many thanks again, I miss the bunch of yahs. :

It's amazing how often that ADDS stuff that I learned from @mminasi & @jeremymoskowitz comes into play while working in #Azure

Voted (in Florida) today. Very well-run. ID check, you get a paper ballot and a place to fill it in. Then you're guided to the scanner, which checks for errors and the vote's in the system. The paper ballot is kept in case a hand count is called for. I wish every state did this.

GREAT post for us nerds. Mass comes not from Higgs Boson, but mainly as a side-effect of the little particles buzzing around the nucleus keeping the protons there from flying apart. Yup, mass comes from the "strong force." Follow Anton, he often has great stuff. Cool.

So reputedly some taxes are based on net worth. I guess figuring out your NW will be the job of the legion of new IRS agents. So much for privacy, alas.

Just did this recipe. From plain chicken thighs to very, very yummy chicken for a sandwich, on a salad, or whatever IN TEH MINUTES. Not kidding. Super easy. youtube.com/watch?v=xFX9gz…

“In other news tonight, American chefs nationwide struggle with the big question: will we have to now pronouce the populur dish as chicken “keev?’” More o this as the story unfolds.

This is interesting as (1) I have friends who used this and recovered and (2) I used to do a lot of data analysis and back in 1981 when I first heard of a "metadata" study, I and my colleagues uniformly saw such a notion as fairly bogus and of little or no value.

Wow. All we needed to do to head off the invasion was to get to the Russian Duma. Who knew? Although the headline DOES look more like "my dog authorizes me to breath in and out."

I've always liked "Little Drummer Boy," but I can't help always visualizing Mary and Joseph saying their heads and saying, "We JUST got the kid tucked in and asleep."
