🧵 It’s time we talk about Doug Lemov’s "Teach Like A Champion" (TLAC) and its detrimental impact on education. This approach is emotionally manipulative, stifles creativity, and treats children like miniature professionals. Here’s why it’s not fit for purpose. #EdChat

I want to learn more about SEN best practice and SEN settings in England. Any help?

Hi @Fox_Claire I was at the BOI conference today. I was in the session on queering society. Would love to speak with you about being on a panel on this topic next year. I think you said reach out if interested, and I am.

This minimises the unique horror and atrocities of the Holocaust. The intentions and motives are different. One was complete annihilation of the Jews, the other is geo-political. This stuff polarises views and hinders productive conversations for a resolution in the region.

From Auschwitz to Gaza, the parallels are undeniable. Genocide is happening in real time, and the world is watching. Palestinians are being trapped, bombed, starved and burned alive, just like so many before them. The horrors the world swore to never repeat are unfolding right…

Well said!

This teacher cuts the little girl off before she finishes her point. These strategies and this blog are ruling the roost in eduational discourse atm. People are watching this and trying to emulate these strategies. This is not good teaching. teachlikeachampion.org/blog/seven-det…

I really don't know where Edutwitter peeps went to school. But anyone that thinks behaviour in schools is worse now than 1970s and 80s London needs to think again. Every year that I have been teaching behaviour is improved year on year.

Woke up this morning to find an X post from someone saying that neurodivergence is political and something for an X bio rather than a medical term. That's enough X for one day.

Attendance awards cause anxiety for many and are deeply unfair to those with medical problems or a disability. Attendance awards often come up when I talk to children no longer attending school, as one of the things which made things more difficult. One girl told me that there…

My 6 year old has started coming home and talking about how he can't have a day off because he needs to get the 100% attendance award. He said he'd go in if he was sick, just to get the award. When will schools finally scrap attendance awards?

Busy day of research meetings ahead and then back to London this afternoon. ITE lecture planning on the train back. Wishing you all a productive and glorious day.

Spent the day in Worcester today for my PhD induction. I will be researching the teacher teacher retention crisis. Very excited to get started.

Why is everyone on LinkedIn always so excited?

@Ofstednews Webinar Question: Are inspections only happening on Tuesday/Wednesday? Answer: Yes, if you haven’t heard by Monday lunchtime you are safe for that week. Safe. That’s still the language that causes anxiety. We shouldn’t need to be ‘safe’ from an inspection.

I was paid twice what Sue Gray is now paid as Editor of The Sun 20 YEARS AGO. The hypocrisy of the media here is laughable.

If Sue Gray does a good job then £170k is pretty cheap. Some of the people fulminating about it on the airwaves are paid considerably more.

Is Bandura's Social Learning Theory dead in UK classrooms?

How is this right? Disgraceful behaviour by the school.

This is a young man I know personally. He is 14 and has had a new haircut (shown). He has been given a 60 mins detention EVERY evening & isolation every break & lunch until his hair grows. Help - is this normal educational behaviour? I am horrified.
