HIND’S HALL. Once it’s up on streaming all proceeds to UNRWA.

Existential riddle time: what do you call a university where the police have free reign but faculty are not allowed to step foot?

1985: the last time Hamilton Hall was barricaded by protestors in hopes of divestment & renamed Mandela Hall. without mass arrests and NYPD on campus. also, grateful shoutout to the @WKCRFM, keeping up tonight and (from the pics) always

In the spring of 1985 we padlocked the front doors of Hamilton Hall, renaming it Mandela Hall, and encamped on the steps for three weeks. Columbia divested from South Africa in the fall of 1985.

Let's say this again: "This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety."

If any kid is hurt tonight, responsibility will fall on the mayor and univ presidents. Other leaders and schools have found a safe, de-escalatory path. This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety. A nightmare in the making. I urge the Mayor to reverse course.

Throughout history, protests were co-opted and made to look bad so police and public leaders would shut them down. That’s what we are seeing now at Columbia University. The Columbia protesters have made clear their demands and want their school not to be complacent in the ongoing…

If you are teaching at CU or Barnard, please join the faculty rally on Monday, at 2 pm on the steps of Low Library. In support of faculty governance & student safety. Return our students to campus, their dorms, dining halls, libraries!

NYPD is on campus in riot gear to arrest protestors. What is this teaching our students?

Columbia has always had an incredible history of students fighting for a more just world and it’s good to see that tradition continue. As NYPD surrounds young activists, I hope their concerns are heard by school administrators and they not be criminalized. In solidarity ✊🏽
