We teach first sounds (alphabet) then our unique Sound Families. Each Phoneme Family lives in a house on Family Fields Street. Each written representation of the same sound (grapheme) compared in the same sound family. Much better results across the board. powerphonicsbooks.com
We created a new phonics pathway. We know trapping learners into endless phonics risks loosing so many of them! Almost impossible to develop a love of reading when you are told which book you are ‘allowed to read’. We can accelerate learners through to get to Free Reader asap👇

We don’t do over complicated phases which many children are unable to plough through….. We do have a Sounds Family Sequence which super powers all children through phonics for reading and spelling. Why? It MAKES MORE SENSE. Simple really. 😬
Total misuse of phonics. Stay away from any programme which undermines what you know is best for children and your common sense !
So, I’ve just heard of an SLT that’s saying children can’t write their names because they haven’t been taught all the sounds yet. Make this madness stop!!! I spent my entire career in the classroom telling children to write their name on their work otherwise it would end up
