Marco Polo has been one of my favorite apps for over a year now, which is like 20 years in app lives. Excited when @vladab shared the intention behind the project, her partnership with her family that informs her practice, and the growth of the platform on the Today Show.

“We think about the physical environment in a very tangible way, but there is a huge body of mismatches in the digital realm.” — @katholmes in conversation with @whartonknows buff.ly/2IVBZZ1 #a11y #design

Great questions to keep in mind when thinking through UX designs.

5 questions I ask myself in every design review: (thread)

Reading the book got me worked up, but hearing it said out loud was even more painful (in a good way!) Talking about concepts from her book Technically Wrong @sara_ann_marie

"For so long, it's been about getting disabled people into the room; building ramps and installing elevators. What can happen when disabled people are invited to the table?" —@elizejackson #uxweek18

3 considerations to help make your app feel like being at home: 1. Make it delightful by repetition 2. Reduce behavioral changes as much as possible as it evolves 3. Balance the perception of ownership; don't interrupt the flow from intention to action @claudioguglieri #UXWeek18

Hearing from @lawlkat from #UCI: emotional labor of moderating communities is exhausting, and compared it to being a mom. Community and service work is underrated and designing to support this means designing to support community mgmt. Yup yup. #UXWeek18

Loved this #GravityFalls GIF explaining all the ways users find to interact with products (make product evolution less painful by reducing behavioral changes required) @claudioguglieri #UXWeek18

Recommended people to follow from Liz Jackson. Design with, not for, those with disabilities. #UXWeek18

I’m going to have to go read up on semantic environments now

My takeaway from @jarango: we don’t think of the object of our design as a place, but they are often replacing physical places. #UXWeek18

My takeaways: It’s OK to be positive about the future. Responsibility is not about limitations.

"I wanted to make the technology tangible, accessible to everyone. That’s the biggest part of how I see the future. Of how I see creating and building futurescapes. It’s not just inclusion, it’s about access. That’s part of Wakanda." Hannah Beachler #UXWeek18 @chinchilla1970
