One purpose of anaesthesia is to keep everything as boring as possible.
I describe it to medical students by saying ‘Would you rather have a boring or exciting transatlantic flight?’ A boring one means that your pilot has planned, calculated risk, foreseen issues and quietly managed pending disasters without your even knowing.

I’ve been seeing adverts for a local private GP service. Thought I’d check out the prices. This is not affordable for many people but the work will be increasingly popular for burnt out GPs fed up with abuse. I dread the consequences of a future two-tier system.
