Not to mention the rise of European Fascism in the 1920s is not imaginable without the help of the catholic clergy. Franco, Hitlers buddy, made the CC state church, the Vatican helped war criminals flee etc. etc. Cath has proven to be unsuitable as a basis for modern society
All Human Rights were fought for against the church, not invented by it. Best example the church‘s collaboration with Hitler. The Nazis remained silent about the abuse already rampant in church institutions at that time, while Pius XII remained silent about the Holocaust.

Noteworthy thread about religious education in in 🇩🇪 which still is constitutionally mandated to be a mandatory subject in public schools. Not only among constitutional lawyers there is a debate about art. 7 of the Grundgesetz that one day will lead to the much needed reform.
