Having killed the 3 Hamas leaders, only the Israeli leaders remain on the arrest warrant being sought by the @IntlCrimCourt Prosecutor.

So the BBC cuts the last long- form interview show on British TV. Really awful news.

THREAD: 1. PERSONAL NEWS: Today BBC News has announced plans to close @BBCHARDtalk after 3 decades holding the world’s politicians and powerbrokers to account. This is sad news for me personally, but much more important, I think it’s depressing news for the BBC🧵

Simon Case is Head of Civil Service. His salary is set on advice from the Senior Salaries Review Board and long been higher than ministers. Sue Gray is a political appointee and - unheard of for such to have higher salary than PM. False equivalence - not BBC bias.

Chris Mason's obsession with Sue Gray earning more than Keir Starmer But indifference over Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak being paid less than Simon Case Is the perfect demonstration of BBC licence fee payers getting third rate tabloid drivel at the expense of proper…

They got shafted on the way into the EEC and imagined leaving would undo the damage, not realising they would get shafted a second time.

This post is unavailable.

Both pronounciations are British. The one the Americans use is actually closer to the French and original English than how RP speakers (including myself) say it today.

The UK's economy has stagnated since 2008 🇬🇧 In terms of GDP per capita - economic output divided by the number of people in a country - we've actually gone backwards. A short 🧵 on the countries that the UK was richer than in 2007, but which have since overtaken us...

Open letter from our #Westminster group: Where are Westminster's cycleways? 🔥 This is a Labour council with a Labour Mayor & now Labour govt, in central London, with v low car ownership & huge appetite for more active travel. So, when will @CityWestminster ... do something? 🤔

Before May 2022, the now @CityWestminster leader @leader_wcc Adam Hug pledged to build a high-quality cycle network if elected. 2+ years later they've built... nothing 🤯 This is *not* OK! Here's our open letter: Where are Westminster's cycleways?! westminstercycling.org.uk/open-letter-we…

This is mind-blowing. When Thatcher became prime minister in 1979, the top rate of income tax was 83 per cent. The top rate of income tax on investment income was 98 per cent. In her first six weeks, these rates were cut to 60 per cent.

On this side of the Atlantic we stand for election, we don’t run.

People want their leaders to be straight with them. No games. No gimmicks.  This is why I’m running to be Leader of the Conservative Party.

Duped again: The U.S. somehow heard Netanyahu say "yes" to a Gaza deal. He didn't / @AlonPinkas haaretz.com/us-news/2024-0…

Apparently VAT rate changes can only ever increase the price paid by consumers.

The campaign to abolish VAT on suncreen ignores a pile of evidence that cutting VAT on specific products doesn't reduce the price of those products. It just puts more £ in the hands of retailers and suppliers.

LAs could spend less on transport by a) commissioning more specialist places closer to people’s homes or b) investing heavily into making every school inclusive and able to meet the needs of every possible child / type of SEND. How would that cost compare to the transport budget?
