Until death, all defeat is psychological. I heard this somewhere a few weeks ago and haven’t forgotten it. No matter how much money you “lose,” no matter how much time or energy or willpower or motivation you lose… You’re still in the fight until it’s over.

Happy 60th Birthday Zambia. We may not be where we ought to be, but we have a lot to be grateful for. The challenges that we are currently facing can be fixed. What can't be fixed is loss of life through civil conflict. We must always guard our peace jealously and reject any…

Understand: the greatest generals, the most creative strategists, stand out not because they have more knowledge but because they are able, when necessary, to drop their preconceived notions and focus intensely on the present moment. That is how creativity is sparked and…

Living in a civilized place will make you a calmer, smarter, better person, because you no longer have to constantly assume the worst of strangers, you know they are focused on their personal goals and don’t care about you.

I love this thought process.

I agree with you. The 14 USD average per square meter is ruining the retail business in Zambia. Nor the retailers nor the developers are winning. The tenancy turnover and low occupancy tell the full story.

You could have put it better, what's a mall with empty shops?....something they need to revise about their cost strategy, a lesser consistent return is better that a higher inconsistent return....and this time we are in calls for a revision

i wonder how many people grew up yelling DIKEMBEEE MUTOMBOOO in that announcer voice and blocking their friend's shot on a child-sized hoop and doing that no no no finger wag. that's like one of my fondest childhood memories

Survival is an underestimate for retail in Zambia, where return on investment averages 3 to 5 years. The industry was hit by covid in 2021 and just 3 years later it was hit by the electricity shortage. Any ideas on how to thrive?

"Don't play intellectual games with the practice" You already "know" all the answers. That gap between "knowing" and making something a part of yourself - is practice. I was taught this in my first 10-day meditation silent retreat. Everyone wanted to listen to lectures more…

Knowledge, experience, and theory have limitations: no amount of thinking in advance can prepare you for the chaos of life, for the infinite possibilities of the moment.

Today, next week, next month, a small to medium size business will shut its doors somewhere in Zambia. The owner and their few employees will lose their livelihoods. Not because the owner was indisciplined or clueless in and about their business... Not because they personally did…

Many smart people think they can learn everything from books, studies, and their own imagination to fill the gaps, when actually, the most important life lessons can only be learned through experience and painful trials and errors, that’s why it’s so common to see these smart…

8) Dealing with Drawdowns When people are winning, they are cautious, and when they are losing, they are irrational and bet big to recover. One of the most important things, is to know when you're hot or cold. When you're cold, you shouldn't be swinging for the fences.

1. To laugh often and much: Laughter keeps us young. Without laughter, you aren't really living! 2. To win the respect of intelligent people: Earning the respect of people you admire (my adaptation on "intelligent people") through the way you live your life.
