Acute hospitalisation accelerates functional decline among older adults 1/3 will experience hospital-associated disability ⬇️ sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Until timely access to rehab is addressed, the revolving door effect of ED attendances and hospitalisations will continue

Rehabilitation can fix the existential problem of 1/3 of patients getting sicker in hospital. Rehabilitation in tandem with, and especially after, an acute care episode can unblock our hospitals. Not “step down”. Not “convalescence”. Not “transitional care”. Rehabilitation.
