Thank you @SVVSFoundation for funding our innovation grant for new binoculars! The Wildlife Rangers were able to get an up close view of a perched Bald Eagle and herd of mule deer on our field work trip to Rabbit Mountain today! @longs_peakms

We heard minks are having a moment in Longmont! This mink is giving a Great Blue Heron something to think about. Perhaps it was because of similar food sources or territory, but interesting either way! #HoyHoy @cityoflongmont @longs_peakms

We’re primed to have an INCREDIBLE year of exploration, data collection, and community science at Longs Peak! Twelve newly-minted Rangers are ready to make their mark on wildlife biology in the Longmont area! #HoyHoy @longs_peakms

Keeping a camera in a set location allows us to make reasonable size comparisons based on distance. This mountain lion, black bear cub, and mule deer buck give a good example of this comparison in action! #HoyHoy @longs_peakms @BoulderCountyOS

Although rare, mule deer can give birth to triplets! Fawns will keep their spots for approximately 3-4 months, which combined with laying motionless in foliage, makes for excellent camouflage! #HoyHoy @longs_peakms

We mourn the loss of life and damage from the Stone Canyon Fire. Thank you to all of the brave individuals and agencies that made every effort to contain the line and minimize additional destruction.

When the reeds sway in the breeze it triggers our camera and leads to some incredible images! These belted kingfishers can be seen flying off with a crayfish snack from our little section of Lykins Gulch! #HoyHoy @longs_peakms @cityoflongmont

It's always a rare honor to see the Rabbit Mountain elk herd on our cameras! The herd will continue to stay at sustainable levels thanks to the BCPOS management plan. #HoyHoy @longs_peakms

Frog, meet Wildlife Rangers. Wildlife Rangers, meet frog! Rabbit Mountain isn’t exactly known for its water sources, but seasonal ephemeral pools provide just enough habitat for these Western Chorus Frogs! #HoyHoy @longs_peakms

Eyeball, or moon? Why not both!

I'm ready for my close-up! Raccoons are highly curious and intelligent which leads to them exploring their surroundings for food sources, shelter, and in this case, trail cams! #HoyHoy @cityoflongmont @longs_peakms

We are so fortunate to have this club at Longs Peak! What can be better than spending time in nature, engaging in community science, and having fun while doing it?
