The new Windsurf editor @windsurf_ai looks like a step up from Cursor. Let's see if it can help me join the Tres Commas Club 🤣
I really like the Review tab from @cursor_ai for reviewing PRs, but wish I can chat with the AI about the changes just like in the normal Chat tab. For now my manual solution is to `git show > changes.txt` and paste everything into chat. Better for a more involved discussion.
Massive News from Chatbot Arena🔥 @GoogleDeepMind's latest Gemini (Exp 1114), tested with 6K+ community votes over the past week, now ranks joint #1 overall with an impressive 40+ score leap — matching 4o-latest in and surpassing o1-preview! It also claims #1 on Vision…

My preferred way of learning any practical field is a top-down approach. For ML and coding, the best way is to find the top libraries, learn from the examples in their documentation and start tinkering.
it's been two months since OpenAI released O1 and it doesn't feel like we're even close to an open-source replication i'm wondering if this is the start of a new era, one where academic research is so far behind that we can't even study the best & newest models (hopefully not)
Messages like this kept me going. Will release more useful features in Copilot Plus for Obsidian soon!
*Do LLMs learn to reason, or are they just memorizing?*🤔 We investigate LLM memorization in logical reasoning with a local inconsistency-based memorization score and a dynamically generated Knights & Knaves (K&K) puzzle benchmark. 🌐: memkklogic.github.io (1/n)
Copilot Plus for @obsdmd learns from NotebookLM and Cursor, two of the best AI applications at the moment.
NotebookLM was just named as one of @TIME best inventions of 2024. What a ride! 💘 time.com/7094935/google…
Indie is hard. We have to 1. pick the battle wisely and avoid direct competition with big tech due to limited resources 2. find ways to deliver enough value for users to pay early on 3. keep supporting and refining everything we have shipped to maintain user trust—the trust we…
Thoughts on Omnivore shutting down: Many people enjoyed Omnivore because it was free, but being free was part of its demise. As an independent app maker, you must have a way to generate revenue or your product will die. As a user you must demand a way to pay makers for the…
Jeff Dean recently wrote a response to a student encouraging them to study computer science. He mentioned it's a great path if he likes to solve puzzles. Many talented engineers I met share this same trait - they love solving puzzles. They love it so much that the standard…
Surprising. gpt-4o-mini did a better job than claude-3.5-sonnet on extracting info from long text. gpt-4o-mini rarely disappoints.
