Missed this going live, but my Narnia/temple mash-up for Wayfare is now freely available. And check out the awesome art! buff.ly/3RJTVZp

Enjoying the Wayfare launch party as usual. May it live long and help a thousand artists and writers bloom!

An excellent article if you've got election anxiety today.

Mental illness, politics, and what the Book of Mormon has taught me about the election. My latest for @Deseret deseret.com/opinion/2024/1…

This article has me thinking about how LDS culture has changed over the past decade or two and how it will continue to change as the church becomes a minority in Utah and more global overall. buff.ly/4fbQgwU

I typically keep politics off my socials, but I'll make an exception for this one: "Screwtape Endorses a Candidate" buff.ly/3YJsEdp

Up on the blog today, some thoughts on how we become attached to our own suffering as a mark of our individuality. Not so much connective to speculative fiction except to CS Lewis's The Great Divorce, but I hope you'll enjoy it.

Look, America. We know you're obsessed with us, but it's starting to get ridiculous. We have stories in our community besides violence. Just saying.

Netflix’s latest depiction of the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre, I’m sure will be deeply flawed. Well, at least we’ll have big budget production value! vanityfair.com/hollywood/stor…

As an audiobook listener, I can't tell you how surreal it is to listen to Sanderson talk with Shallan and Kaladin. buff.ly/4e5hSCL

Submit it to the mystery issue of @irreantum I dare someone.

An LDS Hercule Poirot who figures out the answer to crimes via bibliomancy

Not precisely how I wanted my culture to go mainstream, but I'll take it. buff.ly/3NF7bMn

*explaining the book of mormon to marvel bros* yeah, so it's actually set in the same universe as the bible and, no spoilers, but there's actually a really cool cameo from a major bible character toward the end

Had a fun time this morning reading a folklore project by student Brandon Sanderson on role-playing initiation stories from BYU students. Look for some details from that on a future episode of Angels and Seerstones!

A double issue of reviews, featuring religious creativity and a lot of Sanderson re-reads.

I went to BYU’s homecoming game on Yom Kippur—the least Jewish place in America—and talked to the Jewish quarterback who has led my alma mater’s football team to a miraculous undefeated start. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
