Our new #museum location is #open and we couldn’t be more excited! We’ve had a warm reception with new #shark exhibits including the Museum Gallery that currently features the aerial photography of Shark Spotter Pilot, Wayne Davis! #rhodeisland #placestovisit #livingsharksmuseum

It's World Oceans Day! Did you know #sharks are crucial for our #oceans and play a vital role through biodiversity, maintaining healthy populations from top to bottom? Since we use this ocean too it's our job to join the cleanup crew! #oceancleanup #WorldOceansDay #WorldOceanDay

Super proud about this! Some of the mermaids’ purses that #TheAllenLab have been finding on our little local Elberry Cove in Paignton are now on display in America’s premier Shark History and Conservation Museum @livingsharks! 💪🦈🇬🇧🇺🇸

#FossilFriday Shark vertebrae from North Carolina, these fossils are 4.4 million years old from the early Pliocene beds of the Yorktown Formation. While #sharks are cartilaginous fishes, there are some geologic scenarios that enable more than just a shark’s teeth to be preserved!

Beautiful prehistoric White Shark (Carcharodon hubbelli) teeth from Peru in our collections! The colors of these ancient #fossil #shark teeth are always unique, influenced by the area minerals in the sediment they are #fossilized in. Learn more at Living Sharks Museum!

smh.com.au/world/oceania/… Sad news out of New Zealand where the riptide pulled a girl out beyond where humans typically swim or surf. Investigative bites (are not attacks) & can certainly become fatal when they sever major arteries. Too soon to call the species of #shark involved.

This is a terrible idea and a waste of resources equating to a million (to billion) dollar #antishark revenge-killling operation. With what global science now knows about #sharks, how is this #biteprinting “research” even funded? nytimes.com/2021/01/01/sci…

First #WhiteShark detection on the Point Judith acoustic receiver, a 9-foot female! This is the first time white #sharks have been confirmed in #RhodeIsland waters using this kind of technology. Great work by our friends at @atlanticshark18 ! wpri.com/news/local-new…

Our partnership with @returnoftheorca continues to move forward with explorations into new funding strategies to bring the iconic #JAWS vessel #Orca back to life for the purpose of #shark research and education, along with our friends at @A_WhiteShark | capeandislands.org/post/once-and-…

Beautiful painting of the #USSIndianapolis by the American maritime painter Worden G. Wood (1880-1943) in the #LivingSharksMuseum collection. Wood served in the #USNavy painting ship camouflage, later commissioned to produce intricate works of iconic warships and pleasurecraft.
