Late payment interest currently 7.5%

HMRC asked accept customer requests pause current settlement activity pending outcome review. Advise requesting settlement pause consider making payment on account to HMRC “reduce/stop further late payment interest being charged”. So really need continue paying avoid penalised?

Jon Lionheart Reposted

Some people maybe don’t understand how interest works. Interest (currently 7.5%) will run from the due date to date of payment. So a pause in payments means that interest continues to accrue. Be very careful about Twitter advice on pausing payments!

Last in the series This is resolution of #LoanchargeScandal debate. According to this @HMRCgovuk did act in oppressive manner and @GOVUK is concerned @ it. Question is will HMRC return the extortion money they took from victims?

UK was on its knees with loss of its empire. UK knew it needed to join with Europe. It did. It retained large influence in the world & ever expanding influence in Europe. Its prosperity boomed. (becoming 5th largest economy). UK left. UK now back in decline. Silly fucking UK.

New article by tax adviser exposes inequities HMRC's #LoanCharge settlement terms. - Income & IHT on same amounts. - Excessive penalties & interest. HMRC's punishment strategy in action, although not for promoters. Thank you @BylinesScotland twitter.com/BylinesScotlan…

So HMRC were non-compliant with their own tax avoidance rules?

I am simply incapable of paying back around £42,000 x 3 for the three years I was working through AML. I don't own a house or other assets. The Irony is I was working for HMRC 2016 - 2017 when I was working through AML #LoanChargeScandal @LCAG_2019 @loanchargeAPPG

Another brilliant article on #loancharge by @EmmaAgyemang It brings back memories of this piece I wrote for @yorkshirepost back in 2021. Victims of this scandal include former soldiers who were willing to die for their country. 'How is this justice?' yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/how-i…

Another article from @FT's @EmmaAgyemang on the awful loan charge failed policy. ft.com/content/cb0c2c… I will comment on @jimharra's response in my next tweet. 1/2

Exactly the kind of thing that HMT & HMRC have kept obscured in their #LoanCharge narrative targeted at workers. The collusion between large organisation end-clients (like Govt departments), preferred supplier umbrellas and loan promoters is airbrushed from any investigations.

Jon Lionheart Reposted

So Mary Aiston of HMRC lied when she said no one would lose their home. Then again, she also said the average owed was £13K. And Jesse Norman refused to go after promoters like #MichelleMone’s husband, preferring to continue inflicting misery on thousands. #LoanChargeScandal

They took my house. The only asset I had which would cover the 170k they were demanding.

youtube.com/watch?v=cod1Cx… Thank you @GBNEWS for representing @LCAG_2019 on @CamillaTominey show and have a platform for the #LoanChargeScandal on behalf of the 67k or so affected. So many need support against this retrospective unfair, unjust law.

Jon Lionheart Reposted

It's inhuman to charge two taxes on one income source. The LC legislation, when introduced, should have been introduced to only make one tax charge. Either define income as income or define income as loans but not both. MPs need to fix this double taxation @loanchargeAPPG
